In this study, suffixes which help to express femininity in Russian language are examined and in this context, the similarities and differences are compared by comparing the words expressing femininity in Turkish language with Russian language.
In this article, words expressing femininity are divided into 4 groups with the help of the suffix. In the first group, suffixes which are modified from masculine genus in Russian language and help to express femininity are classified according to their productivity and parts of the language (verb, noun, etc.). In the second group, suffixes representing the femininity but belonging to the common genus covering both sexes, in the third group only suffixes to help express femininity, in the last group, are emphasized te nouns suffixes a limited number of words that firstly express the femininity and then derives the name of the masculine genus name. In addition, situations that meet both sexes and express femininity in common are reinforced syntactically with examples.
This study has a unique value both in terms of systematic classification of suffixes which help to express femininity in Russian language and comparison of Turkish language with no gender category.
In the conclusion section, the ratio of the suffixes expressing femininity according to parts of the language is given and the suffixes that emerged at the beginning of the 21st century and which help to express the femininity are determined.
