Abstract

Spirituality As A Dimension of Coping People encounter with difficulties during life span, like getting a chronic illness diagnosis, elderliness, losing loved ones and being forced to cope with these hard periods. Individuals face with reality of death and self mortality during these periods and this face-off cause an existential inquiry. People get out of this period in which they experience chaos via personal experiences, moral, spiritual and cultural values by developing new meanings about theirselves, the world and future. So, spiritiual dimension is quite important during an individual’s coping with experiences forcing his edges. Spirituality is frequently mixed up with turning to religion and these two concepts are used interchangeably. But spirituality covers turning to religion as it is a more comprehensive concept. Spirituality as a coping dimension, its effect and usage on coping processes is contextualized and how it can be reconsidered by health personnel is discussed in this article.

STRESLE BAŞETMENİN BİR BOYUTU OLARAK SPİRİTÜALİTE

Year 2013, Volume: 16 Issue: 1, 50 - 56, 23.03.2013
