Abstract

ÖZET

Öksürük solunum yolu hastalıklarında sıklıkla karşılaşılan, çıkardığı ses ve oluştuğu alan itibariyle de hastalıklar hakkında bilgi veren bir semptomdur. Öksürüğün, 15 yaş ve üzeri yetişkinde 3 haftadan daha kısa süre sürmesi akut öksürük, 3-8 hafta sürmesi subakut öksürük ve 8 haftadan daha uzun sürmesi kronik öksürük olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Bireylerden alınan öykülerden yola çıkılarak planlanan tedaviler öksürüğün yönetiminde etkili sonuçlar vermektedir. Sıklıkla medikal tedavi ile iyileşmeler görülmektedir. Ancak kronik öksürükte, medikal tedaviye rağmen iyileşme görülmeyen olgularda “konuşma patolojisi tedavisi” gibi nonfarmokolojik bir yöntem kullanılmaktadır. Bu yöntem ile öksürüğün sıklığında kaydadeğer azalmalar sağlanmaktadır.

ABSTRACT

A Non Pharmacological Approach in Chronic Coughing and Its Management: Treatment of Speech Pathology

Coughing is a symptom that is often seen in respiratory tract diseases and gives information about diseases due to sound it produces and site where it develops. Among those aged ≥15 years; coughing less than 3 weeks is called acute coughing, coughing between 3-8 weeks is called subacute coughing and cough more than 8 weeks is called chronic coughing. Treatments planned with patient histories may give effective results in coughing-management. Recoveries are often possible with medical treatments. However; in chronic coughing cases not resulting in recoveries in spite of medical treatments a nonpharmacological method such as “treatment of speech pathology” is used. With this method; significant decreases in the frequency of coughing are obtained.
