PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL OF NURSING SERVICES IN THE WORLD AND TURKEY

Abstract

The organization of nurses in hospitals, patient safety and the effects of nurses on the quality of health care and professional developments have increased the interest in evaluating the performance of nurses today. Performance appraisal in nursing services in the world has been investigated for more than 40 years. Although Turkey stated that in the nurses’ performance levels increased over the last 20 years of studies for determining, it said that enterprise-level and application-based studies are inadequate. The aim of this review is to examine the performance appraisal in nursing services at international and national level and to examine the various performance appraisal applications.

Abstract

Hastanelerde hemşirelerin organizasyonu, hasta güvenliği ve hemşirelerin sağlık bakım kalitesine etkileri ve mesleki gelişmeler, günümüzde hemşirelerin performansının değerlendirilmesine ilginin artmasına yol açmıştır. Dünya’da hemşirelik hizmetlerinde performans değerlendirme 40 yılı aşkın bir süredir araştırılan bir konudur. Türkiye’de ise hemşirelerin performans düzeylerinin belirlenmesine yönelik yapılan çalışmaların son 20 yıl içinde artış gösterdiği belirtilmekle birlikte, kurumsal düzeyde ve uygulamaya dayalı çalışmaların yetersiz kaldığı söylenebilir. Bu derlemenin amacı, hemşirelik hizmetlerinde performans değerlendirmenin uluslararası ve ulusal düzeyde yerini ve çeşitli performans değerlendirme uygulama örneklerini incelemektir.
