Abstract
Özet: Bu çalışma 1950-2002 ve 1970-2002 donemi boyunca Türkiye'de
ekonomik büyüme ve toplam harcamaların yanı sıra bu harcamaların çeşitli
unsurları arasındaki ilişkiyi araştırmaktadır. Ekonomistler kamu harcamaları ile
ekonomik büyüme arasındaki ilişki ile uzun zamandan beri ilgilenmişlerdir. Bu
ilişkiyi test etmek için Engle-Granger'in iki aşamalı koentegrasyon ve hata
düzeltme teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada elde edilen sonuçlar, kişi başına
yatınm ve kişi başına milli gelir hariç uzun dönemde ekonomik büyümeden
kamu harcamalarına ve kamu harcamalarının unsurlarına doğru tek yönlü bir
nedenselliğin olduğunu göstermektedir. Elde ediien bu sonuç ise, Wagner
kanununu desteklemektedir.
Abstract: This paper investigates the relationship between economic
growth and total public expenditure as well as its various components for
Turkey during the period 1950-2002 and 1970-2002. Economists have long
been concerned with the relationship between public expenditures and economic
growth. Engle and Granger's two-srep cointegration and error correction
techniques are employed to test the relationship. The results of this study
indicate a nnidirectional causality(except for per capita investment and per
capita national income) from economic growth to total puclic expenditure as
well as the disaggregated public expenditure in the long run, thus providing
support for Wagner's law,
