1946’da Demokrat Partinin kurulması Türk siyasi hayatında yeni bir dönemin başlangıcı oldu. 1946 seçimlerinde bazı nedenlerden dolayı pek varlık gösteremeyen Demokrat Parti, bundan sonraki üç seçimde de üst üste galip gelerek 1950-1960 yılları arasında tek başına iktidarda kalabildi. Fakat DP, ülke genelindeki başarısını Kars’ta bir türlü yakalayamadı DP, ilk başlarda Kars’a bakanlar göndererek seçim çalışmalarını yürütmeye çalıştı. İstenilen netice elde edilemeyince 1950 seçimlerinden sonra Cumhurbaşkanı Bayar, 1954 seçimlerinden sonra da Başbakan Menderes Kars’a geldi. Bu ziyaretlere rağmen 1950-1954 ve 1957’de yapılan üç genel seçimde de DP Kars’tan milletvekili çıkarmayı başaramadı.

Abstract
The establishment of the Democrat party in 1946 was the beginning of a new era in Turkish Politics. The Democrat Party, after the failure in the 1946 elections for some reasons, stayed in power alone between 1950-1960 through previling in three elections in a row. However the Democrat Pary could not achieve that success across the country in Kars. At the beginning the Democrat Party tried to carry out the election campaign in Kars through sending ministers to Kars. Nevertheless, after the failure to obtain the desired result, the President Bayar has come to Kars following the 1950 elections, and moreover the prime Minister Menderes has visited Kars after the 1954 elections. Despite those visits, the Democrat Party could not gain deputies from Kars in three elections held in 1950, 1954 and 1957.
