A BIO - ECOLOGICAL STUDY ON TROUT IN ARAS
AND ÇORUH RIVERS BASINS
Aras and Çoruh rivers are in
the Eastern Black Sea Regions of
Turkey respectively. The total rain
- fall' area of both river basirıs ii
approximately SO.OOO km2 •
. The' for'lowing conclusions
have been reached in this study:
- Taxonomicaııy;
aL Only Salmo trutta 1. trout
variety has been found In
bouth basins.
b) in Çoruh Basin s.t. labrax
and s. t. magrostigma
sub - varieties (mostly the
former) and their crossbred
apacies have been
found.
c) In Aras Basin, s. t. caspius
and s. t. magrobtigma subvarieties
(mostly the former)
have been found.
2 - Ecologically;
Mor than 60 streams have
been investigated in this study.
Several characteristics such as
the amount of water, temperature,
and the sllope of the streamp beds
have been examined.
Condition factor K. which indicates
the feeding capacity of the
streams has been determined as
0,0129 for the area covered in this
study. (weig~t and lenght were
taken in gr. and cm. respectively in
computing the K. faktor.)
On the othı;ır hand, logaritmic
regression equations that are used
to indicate the feeding capasity of
the streams, as weLL as the growth
rates of fjsh by age have been determined
and it has been found that
the Çoruh River Basin is in betler
conditiorı than the Aras Basin Regarding
the growth rate of fish by
age and the (b) value io the' logaritmic
regression equations' The
reason of this situation is that the
elimate in Çoruh Basin is Milder,
Therefore the conditions are betler
for the fish in the basin to grow.
