Tohum ilaçlaması olarak uygulanan Ethirimol,. Benomyl ve Oxycarboxin!-in
Oxycarboxin 3. hafta sonunda yapılan ilk öiçümde P. striiformis'e karşı Benomyl'a
The effect of seed applied systemic fungicides on the infection of two wheat cuttivars by Puccinia striiformis West
SUMMARY
The work was concemed with the performanee of seed applied Ethimirol
(Milstern), Benomyl (Beniate) and Oxycarboxin (Plantvax) on. the development
of Puccinia striiformis West. on the seedlings of two wheat cultivars Köse and
Kırık. According to the disease assessments done successively 3,4 and 5 weeks
after inocuration, there was no slightest indieatjon that Ethimirol has any effect
on the disease development. By conUast Benomyl and Oxycarboxin were both active
~gainst P. striıformis; although they were not extremely effeetive giving ahnost
complete control of disease. Oxyearboxin initially being more effective than Benomyl
subsequently' started to loose its effectiveness, Benomyl however continued
to showa substantial reduction in disease during the all assesments. As the effect
of Oxycarboxin falls, the disease began to progress more quickly. This could be
aceounted for by an inerase in suseeptibility of the; pJants as a result of deleteriouı;
effects of Oxycarboxi~ on plant growth and behaviour or it might have been due
to the direct stünulation of pathogen's metabolism in favour of infeetion. On the
the other hand there was a differenee in thç response bf two euItivats to P. strilformis
infection, Köse being the more suceptible.
