Summary
The Effect of Gibberellic Acid (A3) on Runner, Daughter Plant, and Fruit Production and Earliness in Some Strawberry
This triai is carried out in Erzurum ecological conditions with the strawberry
cvs Tioga, Gorella and Pocahontas. The main objective of this study was to déterminé
the effects of gibberellic acid on runner, daughter plant, and fruit production
and earliness of the cvs above.
Plants were applied two times with 50 and 100 pm GA; first during flowering
and second 15 days after the first application.
G A increased the number of runners per plant in the early periods after the
applications. But later this effect decreased. The amount of daughter plants on
runners increased with the GA applications in all cvs. But later this cffect decreased
gradually. The similar effect was observed in runner length, GA, in contrast
to vegetative growth, suppressed flowering in al cvs. But 100 ppm inhibited flowering
more than 50 ppm GA. Applications, generally, caused less fruit production, except 50 ppm in Gorella. Any effect of GA was not observed on earliness
in any of the cvs.
