Öz

Bu makalede yazar, başta İngiltere olmak üzere savaş gemilerinin Karadeniz'e erişimini kolaylaştırmada Boğazların önemini analiz etmekte ve bu talebin ardındaki iki temel nedenin altını çizmektedir: Sovyet Rusya ile çatışma korkusu ve petrole, özellikle de naftaya erişimle ilgili endişeler. Tartışma, Mezopotamya'daki petrolün işletilmesine ilişkin anlaşma ve sözleşmelerin tarihsel arka planına ve İngiltere, Fransa ve ABD gibi büyük güçlerin bu düzenlemelerin şekillenmesindeki rolüne kadar uzanıyor. Sonuç olarak metin, petrol kaynakları üzerindeki kontrol, jeopolitik manevralar ve askeri hakimiyet arayışları arasındaki karmaşık bağlantıları ortaya koymakta ve nihayetinde Boğazların bu çok yönlü jeopolitik manzaradaki öneminin altını çizmektedir.

In this article, the author analyzes the significance of the Straits in facilitating access to the Black Sea for warships, particularly those of England, and highlights two primary motives behind this demand: fear of conflict with Soviet Russia and concerns regarding access to oil, specifically naphtha. The discussion extends to the historical background of agreements and treaties related to oil exploitation in Mesopotamia and the role of major powers such as England, France, and the United States in shaping these arrangements. As a result, the text reveals the intricate connections between control over oil resources, geopolitical maneuvering, and the pursuit of military dominance, ultimately underscoring the importance of the Straits in this multifaceted geopolitical landscape.
