Öz
Hititler başa çıkamadıkları hayat sorunlarını ya da hekimlerin çare bulamadığı tıbbi (fizyolojik veya psikolojik) problemleri büyü yoluyla çözmeye çalışmışlardır. Bu amaçla büyü ritüel metinlerinde büyücünün adını, büyüye başvurulan konuyu ve büyüde kullanılacak malzemeleri ayrıntılı şekilde kayda almışlardır. Bu metinler yoluyla Hititlerin dünya tasavvurlarında öne çıkan hayvan, bitki, mineral ve nesnelerin neler olduğu öğrenilmektedir. Bu çalışmada Hitit büyü metinleri külliyatını oluşturan (CTH 390-500) tabletlerin transkripsiyonlarında öne çıkan bazı otsu bitkiler, ağaç türleri ve ahşap nesnelerin incelenmesi hedeflenmiştir. Böylece Hititlerin bazen analojik büyü (benzerlik), bazen de bitki ve nesnelerin sembolik anlamlarını kullanarak yaşadıkları doğal çevrenin özellikle florası ile kurdukları tinsel ilişkiye dikkat çekmeye gayret edilecektir.
Öz
The Hittite people tried to solve their life related problems or the medical
(physiological or psychological) problems, which the medicals could not cure, by using
magic. For this reason, they recorded every single detail related to magic such as the name of
magician, the reason for magic and the objects to be used in the process of magic. These texts
recording the details of magic give us the most prominent animals, plants, minerals and
objects in Hittite people's vision of the life. In this study, an investigation of the herbaceous
plants, tree types and wooden objects was made by making use of the tablet transcriptions
(CTH 390-500) of the of Hittite magic texts which make up the corpus. Thus, this study
focuses on the spiritual relationship the Hittite people have especially with the flora of their
natural environment either sometimes by using analogical magic (similarity), or sometimes by
using the symbolic meanings of plants or objects.
