Ionospheric plate thickness is the ratio of total electron content (TEC) to F2 layer peak electron density (NmF2) and is an important parameter representing the ionosphere. The data used in this study were obtained for Horseshoe Island at 67°49' 54.3747" S latitude, 67°14' 17.0298" W longitude. Data of TEC and critical frequency of the F2-region (foF2) from the TUR 1 GNSS receiver and the Global Ionosphere Radio Observatory (GIRO). The change in ionospheric plate thickness was calculated using. However, it was compared using the NeQuick2 model. In the study, it was determined that on selected days in December 2021, the solar cycle was at its minimum, the Kp index used to characterize the magnitude of geomagnetic storms was 4, and the Dst index was less than -30 nT. However, the monthly average F10.7 cm observed flux for December 2021 was calculated as 102.94 sfu. However, on December 27, 2021, the AE index was found to be greater than 500 nT. It has been observed that this situation is effective in the change in ionospheric plate thickness. Our preliminary findings will provide a basis for future predictions of climate change and space weather at Horseshoe Island.
