TÜRKİYE VE DÜNYADA ALTERNATİF-TAMAMLAYICI TIP KULLANIMI

Year 2022, Volume: 1 Issue: 9, 0 - 0, 29.03.2022

Abstract

USE OF ALTERNATIVE-COMPLEMENTARY MEDICINE IN TURKEY AND IN THE WORLD

Year 2022, Volume: 1 Issue: 9, 0 - 0, 29.03.2022

Abstract

In the field of health, most of the treatments other than scientific and modern treatments are called complementary and alternative medicine. Especially in recent years, the term complementary or alternative medicine is frequently encountered in both current life and academic literature. Most of the methods used as alternative or complementary medicine are traditionally conveyed to the present day, and the methods that are also called "old women's medicine" among the people. The aim of the study is to investigate the reasons for the increase in the rapidly increasing concept of complementary medicine in terms of academic disciplines. In the examples given in the study, how the use of alternative-complementary medicine affects the health industry, the state support given by some world countries to the use of alternative-complementary medicine in terms of the health industry, how the health service providers approach the use of alternative/complementary medicine and the interaction between the patient and the health personnel It is discussed. In the literature review, it is observed that the use of alternative-complementary medicine is handled with many different aspects. According to the results of the studies, it has been revealed that in some countries of the world, state support, including health insurance, is given to the use of alternative-complementary medicine, and in some countries, patients need to hide their preferences for alternative-complementary medicine use even from healthcare professionals. In studies focusing on patient-health worker communication, it has been revealed that in some studies, health workers are supportive and even prone to use, and in others, they display reactive behaviors. The findings are that complementary medicine is not approved because it cannot be scientifically tested in the medical discipline, but despite this, its use and research is increasing rapidly all over the world. As a result, the use of alternative medicine methods, which are also related to our past, in daily life and the rate of research in different disciplines are increasing.
