A New Approach to the Verse of the al-Nafs al-Mutma’innah (ةنئمطملا سفنلا)

Abstract

We will analyze the verse of al-nafs al-mutma’inneh which occurs in the Surah 89/27 of the Qur‟ân after we touch first on the principles as to how to understand the real, true, objective, authentic meaning of a text. We will next try to show in what semantic context this term, which has a significant place in Sufism, was revealed and thus how one should understand the verse. In this way, we will be able to have an idea about the effects that the views and commentaries belonging to the post-revelation periods had on the exegetes.

Nefs-i Mutma’inne Ayetine Yeni Bir Yaklaşım

Abstract

Makalenin ilk kısmında, bir metnin gerçek, aslî, sahih, doğru, objektif anlamını ortaya koyacak ilkeler hatırlatıldıktan sonra, Fecr suresinin 27. ayetinde geçen “nefs-i mutma‟inne” ayetini tahlil edeceğiz. Daha sonra, tasavvufta önemli bir yeri bulunan bu terimin Kur‟ân-ı Kerim‟de hangi anlamda inzâl edildiğini ve nasıl anlaşılması gerektiğini ortaya koymaya çalışacağız. Böylece, nüzûl sonrası anlayış ve yorumların, müfessirler üzerindeki etkileri hakkında bir fikir edinilmiş olacağını düşünüyoruz.
