This article deals with the analysis of the structure of religious institutions in Germany. Germanreligious institutions are analysed in terms of their status, legal positions, and functions. SinceGermany is a country consisting of various states, each state may have their own rules in regard toreligious institutions. In this context, after introducing brief information concerning Germaneducational system, religious education practices in each German state are discussed focussing ontheir models and statýs and then, regional differences observed are presented. Religious educationat the levels of basic education and middle education, relgious education at the level of gymnasiumis discussed and information about faculty of teology, higher institutions of teology and churchbased religious schools is given. Religious education for Moslim students in this country includingthe courses they take is addressed following a historical perspective
