The Mediating Role of Control Perception in the Relationship Between Perceived Organizational Support and Psychological Ownership: A Research in the Aviation Industry

This study aims to investigate the relationships between perceived organizational support, perception of control, and psychological ownership among employees in the Turkish aviation industry, with a focus on elucidating the mediating role of perception of control in the effect of perceived organizational support on psychological ownership, thereby explaining how organizational factors can enhance employees’ psychological investment in their work. The research sample consists of 392 civil aviation sector ground services employees who have been working in the aviation sector in Turkey for at least one year. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire measuring perceived organizational support, perception of control and psychological ownership and analyzed using structural equation modeling with Smart PLS 4.1 and partial least squares method. The findings of the study show that perceived organizational support and perception of control have a significant positive effect on psychological ownership. In addition, perceived organizational support was found to significantly increase the perception of control among employees. On the other hand, perception of control was determined as a mediating variable in the relationship between perceived organizational support and psychological ownership. These results suggest that organizations can promote psychological ownership among employees by increasing organizational support and giving employees more control over their work.

Algılanan Örgütsel Destek ile Psikolojik Sahiplenme Arasındaki İlişkide Kontrol Algısının Aracı Rolü: Havacılık Sektöründe Bir Araştırma

Öz

Bu araştırma, algılanan örgütsel desteğin psikolojik sahiplenme üzerindeki etkisinde kontrol algısının aracılık rolünü aydınlatmaya odaklanarak, Türk havacılık sektöründeki çalışanlar arasında algılanan örgütsel destek, kontrol algısı ve psikolojik sahiplenme arasındaki ilişkileri araştırmayı ve böylece örgütsel faktörlerin çalışanların işlerine yaptıkları psikolojik yatırımı nasıl artırabileceğini açıklamayı amaçlamaktadır. Araştırma örneklemi, Türkiye’de havacılık sektöründe en az bir yıldır çalışan 392 sivil havacılık sektörü yer hizmetleri çalışanından oluşmaktadır. Veriler, algılanan örgütsel destek, kontrol algısı ve psikolojik sahiplenmeyi ölçen yapılandırılmış bir anket aracılığıyla toplanmış ve Smart PLS 4.1 ile kısmi en küçük kareler yöntemi çerçevesinde yapısal eşitlik modellemesi kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular, algılanan örgütsel desteğin ve kontrol algısının psikolojik sahiplenme üzerinde anlamlı pozitif etkiye sahip olduğunu göstermektedir. Bununla birlikte algılanan örgütsel desteğin çalışanlar arasında kontrol algısını anlamlı bir şekilde artırdığı bulunmuştur. Diğer taraftan kontrol algısı algılanan örgütsel destek ile psikolojik sahiplenme arasındaki ilişkide bir aracı değişken olarak belirlenmiştir. Bu sonuçlar örgütlerin, örgütsel desteği artırarak ve çalışanlara işleri üzerinde daha fazla kontrol yetkisi vererek çalışanlar arasında psikolojik sahiplenmeyi teşvik edebileceğini göstermektedir.
