Abstract

Liberal demokratik toplumun birlik ve istikrarı için vatandaşlardan bir takım erdemler göstermeleri beklenir. Vatandaşlara bu erdemlerin kazandırılmasında kamusal eğitim sistemi çok önemli bir rol oynar. İyi, sorumlu ve bilinçli vatandaşlar yetiştirmek hem kamusal eğitim sisteminin temel işlevlerinden birisidir hem de kamusal eğitim sisteminin varlığını ve eğitimin zorunlu olmasını haklı kılan önemli sebeplerden birisidir. Bu çalışmada vatandaşlık eğitiminde kamusal eğitim sisteminin rolü tartışılıyor. Liberal demokratik toplumda vatandaşlığın nasıl anlaşılması gerektiği ve ne gibi nitelik ve erdemler gerektirdiği ortaya konduktan sonra, vatandaşlık eğitiminde kamusal eğitim sisteminin niçin ve nasıl rol oynaması gerektiği irdeleniyor.
