Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement

Journal of Ankara Health Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open-access biannual journal. Owned by Faculty of Health Sciences at Ankara University, the journal is being published since 2012 and the archive regarding previous volumes and issues is available on the website. The journal seeks to publish the best quality and the most up-to-date research regarding health sciences and other relevant disciplines. There is no processing or publication charge for the manuscripts. The journal encourages the best standards of publication ethics and take all possible measures against publication malpractices, which is described in below in detail.
Editors’ Duties and Responsibilities
The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board Members are responsible for deciding on the eligibility, size and content of the manuscripts that are submitted to the journal.
The journal employs a double blind peer review process and it is the duty of editors to maintain the anonymity of authors to the referees.
It is the duty of editors to assign the most suitable referees for the submitted manuscripts.
It is the duty of the editors to carry out the review process in discretion and make sure that no information about the manuscript is shared with third parties apart from the referees and the publisher.
It is the duty of the editors to ensure that the manuscripts are considered and accepted solely on their academic merit and without commercial influence.
It is the duty of editors to ensure that all the authors are treated equally regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political view.
None of the editors are allowed to use submitted research material for their own publications unless they get written permission from the author(s).
Editors are responsible for fair investigation in the case of an ethical complaint and give authors a reasonable opportunity to respond to any complaints.
Reviewers’ Responsibilities
Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents.
The reviewers are expected to complete the review process in due time.
All invited reviewers should immediately notify the editor if they feel unqualified to review or will not be able to do it in due time.
The reviewers should be aware of any potential conflicts of interest (financial, institutional, collaborative or other relationships between the reviewer and author). If necessary, they should alert editor to withdraw their services for that manuscript.
Reviewers should alert the editor to any published or submitted content that is substantially similar to that under review.
Reviews should be conducted objectively, and observations should be formulated clearly with supporting arguments. Personal criticism of the author is considered inappropriate.
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in a reviewer´s own research without the written consent of the author.
Authors’ Responsibilities
No fees or charges are required from authors for manuscript processing or publication.
Authors should confirm/assert that the manuscript as submitted is not under consideration or accepted for publication elsewhere.
Plagiarism is described as the representation and reproduction of another author's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one's own original work. Self-plagiarism also occurs when authors fail to cite their own published work. These situations are against the copyright law and may lead to legal action. The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others, that this has been appropriately cited or quoted with a reference list.
In order to prevent such misconduct, the authors are required to submit Turnitin Software reports for review articles.

Ankara Journal of Health Sciences is based on the principles stated in the "Helsinki Declaration", "Good Clinical Practice Guideline", "Good Laboratory Practice Guideline" and relevant regulations of the Ministry of Health in all studies involving the "human" element.

For the studies with human participants or animal subjects, a copy of the Ethics Committee approval must be sent to the journal. If the relevant document is not sent to the journal, the article will not be evaluated. Authors should write the approval date and number of the Ethics Committee in the "Sample and Method / Materials and Method" section.

Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. The corresponding author with the journal should ensure that all appropriate co-authors are included.
All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.
All authors are obliged to provide retractions or corrections of mistakes.
In case of any plagiarism and misconduct, COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines and flowcharts will be followed by the editors.
Publisher’s Responsibilities
The Publisher and the Journal do not discriminate on the basis of age, color, religion, creed, disability, marital status, veteran status, national origin, race, gender, genetic predisposition or carrier status, or sexual orientation in its publishing programs, services and activities.
