HDL Levels in Acute Miyocardial Infarction

Abstract

Increases in serum total cholesterol levels with decreased HDI. (high density lipoprotein) cholesterol are closely Linked with the increased incidence of coronary heart disease (CHD), especially the ratio of total cholesterol to HDL cholesterol being most significant. In practice, serum HDL cholesterol level measurements are usually postponed to months later after an initial myocardial infarction, This freguentiy causes delay or prevents initiation of patient management programs. In this study total cholesterol and HDL cholesterol of 162 patients with acute myocardial infarction were determined on the day of admission to the coronary care unit. The total cholesterol/HDL cholesterol ratio was found to be higher than normalin 9 50 of the patients.

AKUT MYOKARD İNFAKTÜŞÜNDE HDL DÜZEYLERİ

Abstract

Serum total kolesterolünde artma, daha da önemlisi HDI, (high density lipoprotein) kolesterolünde azalma, yüksek koroner damar hastalığı (KDH) riski ile birliktedir. Çalışmalar koroner damar hastalığı riskini belirleyen en iyi göstergenin total kolesterol/HDIL kolesterol oranı olduğunu önermektedir. Ancak pekçok hekim, akut miyokard infaktüsü sırasında hastanın kolesterol düzeylerine bakmamakta, bu değerleri elde etmek için birkaç ay beklemek eğilimindedir. Bu durum, KDH'nın ilerlemesine müdahale etmeyi geciktirmekte ya da engel olmaktadır. Sunulan çalışmada akut miyokard infaktüsü nedeniyle koroner bakım ünitesine yatırılan 162 hastada, ilk gün total kolesterol ve HDL kolesterol düzeyleri ölçüldü; total kolesterol/HDL kolesterol oranının hastaların yarıdan fazlasında çok yükselmiş olduğu belirlendi.
