Abstract

In order to fully understand the effects of tobacco on human health, it is necessary to know its pharmacology and toxicology. The pharmacological and toxic effects of tobacco depend partly on the substances present in tobacco and partly on the «pyrolysis» products formed during the combustion of a cigarette, pipe or cigar. It is accepted that there are more than 2000 chemical substances in cigarette smoke (19). In terms of pharmacology and toxicology, the most important substances found in smoke are nicotine, carbon monoxide (CO) and the substances in the particulate phase of smoke, which are the basis of tar.

Abstract

Tütünün insan sağlığına olan etkilerinin iyice anlaşılabilmesi için farmakoloji Ve toksikolojisinin bilinmesi gerekir. Tütünün farmakolojik ve toksik etkileri kısmen tütünde mevcut olan maddelere, kısmen de sigara, pipo veya püronun, yanması esnasında teşekkül eden «piroliziz» ürünlerine bağlıdır, Sigara dumanında 2000'den fazla kimyasal maddenin bulunduğu kabul edilmektedir (19). Farmakoloji ve toksikoloji bakımından dumanda bulunan en önemli maddeleri nikotin, karbonmonoksid (CO) ve katranın esasım teşkil eden dumanın partikül fazındaki maddeler teşkil etmektedir.
