Akciğerde Histolojik ve Histokimyasal İnceleme
Abstract
This study explores the histological and histochemical characteristics of specific epithelial cell types in adult rat lungs using PAS, lead hematoxylin, toluidine blue (post-acid hydrolysis), Masson-Fontana, and Singh argyrophil methods. Type I and type II pneumocytes, Clara cells, and macrophages were identified and distinguished through their staining patterns. PAS-positive granules were found in type II cells and macrophages. Argyrophil granules were present in some cells of both the bronchial and alveolar epithelium, suggesting endocrine-like behavior. Lead hematoxylin and toluidine blue confirmed protein-rich granules potentially associated with polypeptide hormone production. These findings support the presence of APUD-type endocrine cells in pulmonary epithelium.
