Investigation of the Alimentation Water and Surrounding Streams of Ankara City in Terms of Detergent

Year 1976, Volume: 29 Issue: 4, 853 - 866, 31.12.1976

Abstract

Year 1976, Volume: 29 Issue: 4, 853 - 866, 31.12.1976

Abstract

With their increasing consumption, detergents are becomingone of the most important pollutants found in natural waters.İn this regard, the municipal water supply of Ankara and the streams around city was examined for detergent content. The average detergent concenitration of the municipal water supply.was found to be 0.158 0.017 mg/lt on rainy season and 0.125 0.016 mg/it on dry season. The streams around Ankara city had a concentration range of 0.53-18.25 mg/ 1t.Taking the great increase of detergent consumption into consideration, precautions must be taken to prevent severe health and economic hazards both by limiting the use of hard detergents and by applying an efficient water purification processe.
