Niğde yöresinde Anadolu tarla sincabı, Spermophilus xanthophrymnus (Rodentia : Sciuridae)’da bulunan kan parazitleri

Abstract

Bu çalışma, Nisan-Ağustos 2003 ayları arasında Niğde yöresinde yakalanan 105 Anadolu tarla sincabı, Spermophilus xanthophrymnus (Rodentia: Sciuridae) üzerinde yürütülmüştür. Sincaplardan alınan kan örneklerinden hazırlanan yayma kan frotilerinde, 5 sincabın kanında Trypanosoma lewisi, 2 sincabın kanında Babesia microti tespit edilmiştir. Trypanosoma lewisi ve B. microti Türkiye’de Anadolu tarla sincabında ilk kez bildirilmiştir. Trypanosoma lewisi, Stercoraria grubunda yeralan, bütün dünyada çeşitli rat türlerinde görülen kamçılı bir kan protozoonudur (4). Vektörleri pirelerden Xenopsylla cheopis ve Nosopsyllus fasciatus’dur (4). Türkiye’de bu güne kadar yapılan çalışmalarda T. lewisi kemelerde (7) ve kör farelerde (2) tespit edilmiştir. Genellikle küçük yabani kemiricilerde görülen Babesia microti, eritrosit içinde gelişen ve İxodid kenelerle taşınan bir kan protozoonudur (8). Türkiye’de kemiriciler üzerinde konuyla ilgili herhangi bir çalışmaya rastlanmamıştır. Bu çalışma ile Türkiye’de ilk defa Spermophilus xanthophrymnus (Anadolu tarla sincabı) kan parazitleri yönünden muayene edilmiştir.

Blood parasites detected from Anatolian squirrel, Spermophilus xanthophrymnus(Rodentia : Sciuridae) in Nigde province, Turkey

Abstract

The study was conducted on 105 Anatolian squirrel, Spermophilus xanthophrymnus (Rodentia: Sciuridae) in Nigde which is province of Turkey from April 2003 to August 2003. Trypanosoma lewisi and Babesia microti were detected in the blood smears of 5 and 2 squirrels, respectively.
