The Türkoloji Journal of the Hoca Ahmet Yesevi International Turkish-Kazakh University publishes original scientific articles. All manuscripts, except editorial works, undergo a double-blind peer-review process.

 

Aim and Scope

The Türkoloji Journal aims to contribute significantly to the academic world by publishing high-quality scholarly studies. In line with this objective, the journal publishes studies that:

  • Analyze fundamental issues and applications in Turkish language, Turkish literature, contemporary Turkic dialects and literatures, Turkish history, Turkish culture, Turkish art, and Turkish archaeology;
  • Contribute to the development of Turkish language teaching/learning and help specialists improve their skills and strategies;
  • Aim at the advancement of Turkology by developing more qualified researchers;
  • Include broad research or case-based studies related to Turkology.

In addition to original research articles, the journal also publishes translation articles, review articles, text editions, publication reviews, and research notes.

The Türkoloji Journal is an independent, double-blind peer-reviewed, open-access, and online journal that aims to publish articles on all aspects of Turkology.

Submitted manuscripts must be original works that have not been previously published or submitted elsewhere. Manuscripts deemed appropriate in terms of journal guidelines and scope are sent to at least two expert reviewers for scientific evaluation. The Editorial Board discusses each manuscript in light of reviewers’ reports regarding suitability. The final decision for all submissions is made by the Editor-in-Chief. The Editorial Board of the Türkoloji Journal is committed to adhering to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) criteria.

 

Restrictions and Submissions Not Accepted for Review

The following types of manuscripts fall outside the scope of the Türkoloji Journal and are not accepted for review:

  • Multiple submissions by the same author within the same publication period are not accepted;
  • Studies outside the field of Turkology are not accepted;
  • Undergraduate student papers are not accepted; however, studies by master’s and/or doctoral students in Turkology may be accepted;
  • Works that are summaries of graduate theses are evaluated through peer review by at least two experts;
  • Studies conducted with very small research groups or insufficient sample sizes are not accepted;
  • Text editions without analytical content and/or compilations are not considered research articles; such works may be evaluated under “text edition” or “review article” categories;
  • Bibliographies and/or purely literature review-based studies are not accepted;
  • Manuscripts consisting of textbook analyses and/or literary compilations are not accepted; however, publication review studies may be accepted under the “publication review” section.

Regardless of the manuscript language, the following requirements must be observed:

  • Title: All manuscripts must include titles in Turkish, Kazakh, English, and Russian in the abstract section;
  • Author Name(s): Must be written in the manuscript’s primary language and in Latin script;
  • Author Address(es): Must be written in Latin script;
  • Abstract: All manuscripts must include abstracts in Turkish, Kazakh, English, and Russian;
  • Keywords: Must be provided in Turkish, Kazakh, English, and Russian following each abstract;
  • References: Must first be formatted in the language of the manuscript, followed by a Latin-script version. For Kazakh and Russian manuscripts, references should first be given in Cyrillic and then in Latin script;
  • Full Text: Manuscripts may be written in Turkish, Kazakh, English, or Russian.

 

Manuscript Submission

Submitted manuscripts must be in accordance with the journal’s aim and scope. Only original, unpublished manuscripts not under consideration elsewhere and approved by all authors are accepted for evaluation.

 

Readership

The primary readership includes experts and researchers working in Turkish Language, Turkish Literature, Contemporary Turkic Dialects and Literatures, Turkish History, Turkish Art, Turkish Culture, and Turkish Archaeology. In addition, anyone interested in Turkology and seeking to develop in this field is also part of the readership.

 

Publication Policy

No fees are charged for the evaluation or publication of manuscripts submitted to the Türkoloji Journal. No publication fee is charged from authors whose manuscripts are accepted. The journal does not accept sponsorship or advertising. All expenses are covered by the Hoca Ahmet Yesevi International Turkish-Kazakh University.

Copyright of works published in the Türkoloji Journal remains with the authors. Authors agree that their intellectual works may be published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license.

 

Originality of Manuscripts

The Türkoloji Journal does not accept previously published works. However, translations of articles originally published in foreign languages that are significant for Turkology may be considered for review.

Manuscripts submitted to the journal must address topics related to Turkic peoples’ languages, literatures, folklore, history, culture and religion, and ethnography.

 Manuscripts submitted for publication in the “Türkoloji” journal should cover topics such as the languages and literatures of Turkic peoples, their folklore, history, culture and religion, as well as ethnography.
