CULTURAL COOPERATION IN THE ORGANIZATION OF TURKIC STATES: “JEWELS OF TURKIC LITERATURE”

Abstract

This review paper examines cultural cooperation within the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), with a particular focus on the role of the 100-volume collection Jewels of Turkic Literature, published in 2022. The OTS, initially established as a small regional organization, has expanded into a significant international actor promoting collaboration across scientific, cultural, educational, socio-economic, and political domains. Cultural and educational activities play a central role in strengthening ties among Turkic-speaking countries. The Jewels of Turkic Literature collection, known as the “Golden Collection,” includes 100 volumes, of which 17 (Volumes 39-55) are dedicated to masterpieces of prominent Turkic poets and writers. Many works have been translated into Uzbek and published across various formats, including Latin and Cyrillic scripts. This paper provides a detailed analytical overview of the publishing houses and chronology of publication years, and translation practices associated with these volumes in Uzbekistan. Additionally, it highlights the contributions of translators and evaluates the collection’s significance in fostering cultural cooperation in the Turkic world. The study offers a comprehensive analysis of both prose and poetry works, emphasizing the collection’s impact on the dissemination of Turkic literary heritage.
