Çin'in Panda Diplomasisi

Year 2021, Volume: 5 Issue: 1, 48 - 86, 31.05.2021

Abstract

China's Panda Diplomacy

Year 2021, Volume: 5 Issue: 1, 48 - 86, 31.05.2021

Abstract

Panda diplomacy, of which China is the sole practitioner, is briefly considered as efforts to strengthen bilateral communication by gifting pandas to the states that China wants to establish positive relations with in the first years of this application, then by adapting and renting them to legal regulations and animal rights, and today by identifying donor countries and lending them within the framework of joint maintenance plans. In the study, the place of animals in the historical process related to diplomacy was mentioned, in the same way that panda diplomacy continued with its current state and the work was completed by focusing on the future of this diplomacy topic. Since there is no academic content in the Turkish literature that directly examines panda diplomacy, this study is expected to contribute to the literature. In addition to Turkish, content in English, German and Chinese was also used.
