An Examination on Psychological Counseling and Guidance Practice and Research Centers

Abstract

Psychological Counseling and Guidance Practice and Research Centers have been opened and continue to be opened in many universities in Turkey. It is thought that it is important to examine the situation of these centers and to present the results up to date. For this purpose, the official web pages of psychological counseling and guidance practice and research centers established in all state and foundation universities included in the official website of the Council of Higher Education were examined within the scope of the research. In this research, which is a case study based on a qualitative research approach, the document analysis method was used to collect data. As a result of the research, according to the official web pages, it was found that there are 47 psychological counseling and guidance practice and research centers in 205 universities. It has been determined that 38 of these centers have been operating within the last year. It is determined that the official web pages of 26 of these centers are active. In 26 of the centers operating in the last year, it was determined that apart from the managers, specialist personnel were employed, the staff type of these experts is in the form of a psychological counselor, psychologist, clinical psychologist, lecturer, psychiatrist, research assistant and social worker they had a physical location, and the most frequent activities were individual psychological counseling, conference and group psychological counseling. Also, when the names of these centers were examined, it was understood that they do not have a standard name although they are very similar to each other.

Türkiye’deki Psikolojik Danışma ve Rehberlik Uygulama ve Araştırma Merkezlerinin İncelenmesi

Abstract

Türkiye’de birçok üniversitede Psikolojik Danışma ve Rehberlik Uygulama ve Araştırma Merkezi açılmış ve açılmaya devam etmektedir. Bu merkezlerin durumunun incelenmesi ve sonuçların güncel olarak ortaya koyulmasının önemli olduğu düşünülmektedir. Bu amaçla araştırma kapsamında Yükseköğretim Kurulu’unun resmî web sayfasında yer alan tüm devlet ve vakıf üniversitelerinde kurulmuş olan Psikolojik Danışma ve Rehberlik Uygulama ve Araştırma Merkezlerinin resmî web sayfaları incelenmiştir. Nitel araştırma yaklaşımına dayalı bir durum çalışması niteliğindeki bu araştırmada verilerin toplanmasında doküman analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda resmî web sayfalarına göre 205 üniversitede toplam 47 merkezin olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bu merkezlerin 38'inin son bir yıl içerisinde faaliyet yaptığı belirlenmiştir. Son bir yıl içerisinde faaliyet yapan merkezlerin 26’sında; yöneticilerin dışında uzman personelin görev yaptığı, bu uzmanların kadro türünün psikolojik danışman, psikolog, klinik psikolog, öğretim görevlisi, psikiyatrist, araştırma görevlisi ve sosyal çalışmacı şeklinde olduğu; bu merkezlerin çoğunun fiziki mekâna sahip olduğu, bu merkezlerde en sık yürütülen çalışmaların bireyle psikolojik danışma, konferans ve grupla psikolojik danışma faaliyeti olduğu belirlenmiştir.
