Submitting a Candidate Article to the Journal

The Western Anatolia Journal of Educational Sciences (WAJES) evaluates studies in Turkish or English. In Turkish studies, the English abstract as well as a long English abstract must be in.

WAJES accepts qualitative, quantitative or mixed-pattern studies on current topics in different fields of educational sciences. The studies in question must not have been published elsewhere or sent elsewhere for evaluation.

The studies to be sent to the journal must be uploaded to the system in Dergipark via https://dergipark.org.tr/en/journal/166/submission/step/manuscript/new. There should not be any information about the authors or their institutions in the studies. It is mandatory that the candidate article complies with the WAJES writing rules and is prepared using the article template at https://dergipark.org.tr/en/pub/baebd/writing-rules. The writing rules in the Publication Manual of American Psychological Association (APA) (6th edition) published by the American Psychological Association should be taken into consideration in order to arrange the pictures and tables in the text, display the references and organize the bibliography. It is obligatory to upload the plagiarism report showing the similarity rate of the study next to the candidate article. The similarity rate in the plagiarism report is expected to be 15% or less. In addition, the ethics committee approval document for research articles must be uploaded to the system.

Candidate Article Evaluation Process

The article sent to the journal is subjected to a preliminary evaluation process by the editor. In this context, it is checked whether the candidate article contains information about the authors or their institutions, the compliance of the candidate article with the writing rules and the article template; compliance of the picture and table arrangements in the text, the presentation of the references and the bibliography with the APA 6; the plagiarism report and the ethics committee approval document. In these checks, deficiencies are expected to be completed by contacting the author if necessary. After all the deficiencies are completed, the candidate article is sent to two referees who are experts in the field for evaluation. Detailed information about the evaluation processes of the referees and the publication status of the candidate article according to the decisions of the referees is available at https://dergipark.org.tr/en/pub/baebd/page/8314. Articles accepted to be published in the WAJES are edited by the layout editor in accordance with the publication. The articles whose layout process is completed are sent to the authors for final control. At this stage, if the study is produced from a project, information about the project in question should be added. Accepted English articles are checked by a linguist.

The double-blind peer review process is used in the evaluation process of the articles sent to the WAJES. The authors and the referees do not know each other.

In case of accepting candidate articles sent to the WAJES, no fee is charged for the publication process. WAJES is a completely free academic journal.
