Türkiye İçin Yeni Bir Süs Bitkisi: Protea

Abstract

Türkiye, süs bitkileri yetiştiriciliğine uygun iklim, coğrafi koşullar, pazar ülkelerine yakınlığı ve ucuz işgücüne sahip olması gibi nedenlerle önemli avantajlara sahiptir. Mevcut durumda karanfil, gerbera ve gül üretimi toplam kesme çiçek üretiminin yaklaşık %80’ini oluşturmaktadır. Bu üretim desenin farklı süs bitkileri ile zenginleştirilmesi ve özellikle dünya süs bitkisi piyasası tarafından istenilen bitkilerin yetiştirilmesi ülkemizin bu sektördeki pazar payını arttıracaktır. Bu amaçla proteaların, ülkemiz kesme çiçek sektörünün genişletilmesine katkı sağlayabileceğini söyleyebiliriz. Proteaların yaprak ve çiçek renklerinin gösterişli olması nedeniyle yetiştiriciliği yaygınlaşmaktadır. Ticari olarak Leucadendron türü genellikle yaprakları için yetiştirilirken, Leucospermum ve protea türleri çiçekleri için yetiştirilmektedir. Akdeniz iklimine oldukça uygun bir tür olduğu söylenebilir. Bu derlemenin amacı, protea süs bitkisinin ülkemiz süs bitkileri sektörüne tanıtmak ve genel yetiştirilme olanakları ile kültürel ve teknik işlemleri hakkında bilgiler sunmaktır.

A New Ornamental Plant for Turkey: Protea

Abstract

Turkey has a lot of important advantages due to there are suitable climate and geographical conditions, proximity to market countries and cheap labor. At present, carnations, gerberas and roses production are accounted for approximately 80% of the total cut flower production. The design of the plant production can be enhanced by the production of differ ornamental plants and especially ornamental plants desired by the world market country. Therefore, it will be increasing its market share in this sector. For this purpose, we can say that proteas can be contribute to the expansion of the cut flower industry in Turkey. Proteas that have flashy of the leaves and flowers colors are widespread in the world. Commercially, Leucadendron species are grown for leaves, and Leucospermum and Protea species are grown for their flowers. We can indicate that Mediterranean ecological conditions are suitable for proteas. The purpose of this paper, protea ornamental plants are introduced to ornamental plants sector and are gave some information about general growing conditions, cultural techniques and practices.
