Rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum L.) Growing

Abstract

Due to its ecological conditions, our country has a great advantage in the production of various temperate and subtropical fruit types. Climate changes such as global warming have led the producers to tropic fruits with high economic yield. Rambutan, a local fruit of Malaysia and Indonesia is a tropic fruit type, also known as “ngoh, phruan, nert, gerte, saaw, maaw, chom chom, vai tieu, hooun mu daon, shau tsz”. It is widely used in jams, cakes and desserts, as well as its fresh consumption. Its colourful and flashy fruits are used in flower and fruit compositions. General properties such as ecological demands, tree and fruit properties, growing techniques, common varieties, nutrition value and production possibilities of rambutan, which is a tropical climate fruit will be examined based on literature investigations in this work. At the end of this work, production possibilities of rambutan will be investigated.

Abstract

Ülkemiz, sahip olduğu ekolojik koşullar nedeniyle birçok ılıman ve subtropik meyve türünün yetiştiriciliği açısından büyük avantaja sahiptir. Küresel ısınma gibi iklim değişiklikleri üreticileri ekonomik getirisi yüksek olan tropik meyvelere yöneltmiştir. Tropik meyveler son yıllarda ülkemizde tüketimi artış gösteren meyveler konumuna gelmiştir. Malezya ve Endonezya’nın yerli bitkisi olan rambutan “ngoh,phruan, nert, gerte, saaw, maaw, chom chom, vai tieu, hooun mu daon, shau tsz” isimleriyle de tanınan tropik bir meyve türüdür. Taze tüketimi dışında reçel, pasta ve tatlılarda kullanımı da yaygındır. Renkli ve gösterişli meyveleri çiçek ve meyve aranjmanlarında kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada tropik iklim meyvesi olan rambutanın iklim ve toprak istekleri, ağaç ve meyve özellikleri, yetiştirme teknikleri, yaygın çeşitleri, beslenme değeri gibi genel özellikleri literatür taramalarına dayanarak incelenecektir. Bu çalışmanın sonucunda tropik bir tür olan rambutanın ülkemizde yetiştirilme olanakları irdelenecektir.
