DOĞADAN GELEN MUCİZE: ZENCEFİL (Zingiber officinale)

Abstract

Zingiberaceae familyasında yer alan Zencefil (Zingiber officinale), antik çağlardan beri bilinen hem baharat hem de tıbbi bir bitki olarak kullanılan, dünya çapında en popüler baharatlardan biridir. Zencefil kullanımı Hindistan ve Çin’de daha yüksek olmasına rağmen tüm dünyada yaygın bir şekilde kullanılmaktadır. Zencefil yetiştiriciliği tropik ve yarı tropik iklimlerde yapılmaktadır. Dünya üretiminin %35’ini Hindistan elinde bulundurmaktadır. Yarı tropik iklim kuşağını da içine alan Türkiye, konumu gereği birçok doğal bitki çeşitliliğine sahiptir. Ayrıca farklı iklim kuşaklarına sahip olan ülkemizde, dünyanın farklı yerlerinde yayılış gösteren ve üretilen birçok tür adaptasyon çalışmaları ile adapte edilmiştir ve yetiştiriciliği yapılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, dünyada zencefilin durumu ve yetiştiriciliği hakkında genel bilgiler yanında ülkemizde yeni başlayan adaptasyon çalışmaları hakkında bilgiler derlenmiştir.

THE MIRACLE FROM THE NATURE: GINGER (Zingiber officinale)

Abstract

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is one of the most popular spices worldwide, used as a spice and medicinal plant known since ancient times. Although the use of ginger is higher in India and China, it is widely used all over the world. Ginger cultivation is made in tropical and semi-tropical climates and India holds 35% of world production. Turkey where some part of it include in sub-tropics rich in natural plant diversity. In addition, thanks to the adaptation studies many species around the World adapted and cultivated in our country. In this study, general information about the status and cultivation of ginger in the world as well as information about the new adaptation studies in our country has been compiled.
