EXAMINING THE VIEWS OF PRINCIPALS AND TEACHERS ON DATA-BASED DECISION-MAKING PROCESS IN SCHOOL MANAGEMENT ACCORDING TO SOME VARIABLES

Abstract

The aim of this descriptive survey model research is to examine the views of principals and teachers on the data-based decision-making process in school management according to some veriables. The universe of the research consists of 276 school administrators and 2410 teachers working in the city center of Siirt in the 2021-2022 academic year. The sample of the study, on the other hand, consists of a total of 384 participants, 121 administrators and teachers from primary schools, 137 administrators and teachers from secondary schools, and 126 administrators and teachers from high schools, who were determined by stratified sampling method and work in the center of Siirt. In the study, in addition to descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation), independent sample t-test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) results were reported to determine the differences in terms of variables. As a result, it has been determined that the data-based decision-making process in school management is at a “high” level in the whole scale and in all its dimensions. While there was a significant difference between the opinions of the participants in terms of branch, position and school size; It was determined that there was no statistically significant difference in terms of professional seniority, education level and school type. As a result of this research, it was seen that teachers and school administrators should be supported more on data usage culture and data literacy.

YÖNETİCİ VE ÖĞRETMENLERİN OKUL YÖNETİMİNDE VERİYE DAYALI KARAR VERME SÜRECİNE İLİŞKİN GÖRÜŞLERİNİN BAZI DEĞİŞKENLERE GÖRE İNCELENMESİ

Abstract

Betimsel tarama modelindeki bu araştırmanın amacı yönetici ve öğretmenlerin okul yönetiminde veriye dayalı karar verme sürecine ilişkin görüşlerini bazı değişkenlere göre incelemektir. Araştırmanın evreni 2021-2022 eğitim öğretim yılında Siirt il merkezinde görev yapan 276 okul yöneticisi ve 2410 öğretmen oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemi ise tabakalı örnekleme yöntemiyle belirlenmiş olan ve Siirt merkezde görev yapan ilkokullardan 121 yönetici ve öğretmen, ortaokullardan 137 yönetici ve öğretmen, liselerden ise 126 yönetici ve öğretmen olmak üzere toplam 384 katılımcıdan oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada betimsel istatistiklerin (frekans, yüzde, ortalama, standart sapma) yanı sıra değişkenler açısından farklılıkların belirlenmesine ilişkin bağımsız örneklem t-testi ile tek yönlü varyans analizi (ANOVA) sonuçları rapor edilmiştir. Buna göre okul yönetiminde veriye dayalı karar verme sürecinin, ölçeğin tamamında ve tüm boyutlarında “yüksek” düzeyde olduğu belirlenmiştir. Katılımcıların görüşleri arasında; branş, görev ve okul büyüklüğü açısından anlamlı farklılık bulunmakta iken; mesleki kıdem, öğrenim durumu ve okul türüne göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılığın olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Bu araştırma sonucunda; öğretmenlerin ve okul yöneticilerinin veri kullanma kültürü ile veri okuryazarlığı konusunda daha çok desteklenmeleri gerektiği görülmüştür.
