An experimental outcome that affects buoyancy

Year 2011, Volume: 5 Issue: 2, 1 - 5, 01.12.2011

Abstract

This experiment was carried out to examine the relationship between the lifting force of a fluid and the shape of an object immersed in the fluid and the force of surface tension that acts on the surfaces that are in contact with the fluid. The experiment conducted established that lifting forces on an asymmetric object changed depending on the way the object had been immersed in the fluid and that such changes were caused by surface tension.
