Yaşadıkları zorlukları nasıl aştıkları sorulduğunda; baş etme yöntemi olarak, öğrencilerin %77.5’i beden dilini kullandığını, %56.9’u hastanın duygu durumunu gözlemlediğini, %39.8’i teknolojiden faydalanarak dil çeviri programlarını kullandığını belirtmiştir. Öğrencilerin sözsüz iletişime yatkınlık düzeylerine bakıldığında hemşirelik öğrencilerinin (76.60±13.29) ebelik bölümü öğrencilerine (69.55±11.75) oranla sözsüz iletişime daha yatkın oldukları görülmüştür (p<0.05).
Sonuç: Çalışma sonucunda öğrencilerin mülteci/sığınmacı hastalara bakım verirken iletişimde sorun yaşadıkları ve sorunu çözmek için bireysel çaba gösterdikleri görülmüştür.

Bacground: In recent years, increasing number of refugees in Turkey brings health problems. Students of the health department may face different problems while caring for these people in their application areas.
Objectives: To determine the problems experienced by the midwifery and nursing students in the process of providing care to refugee patients admitted to the hospital and their susceptibility to non-verbal communication.
Methods: The universe of the descriptive cross-sectional study was composed of 735 students in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades of the Faculty of Health Sciences.Without sample selection, study group consisted of 520 students students(70.7% of the universe). In the study, a questionnaire form with 23 questions developed by the researchers with the support of the literature was used as a data collection tool and a “Non-Verbal Confidence Scale-Self-Report Form” made by Erkuş and Günlü(2009) in Turkish validity reliability consisting of an introductory information form.Statistical significance was accepted as p<0.05.
Results: The mean age of the students is 20.79±1.45(min-max=8-30). 47.5% of the students stated that refugee patients need different care and approach, and 47.9% stated that they had difficulty in providing care to these patients and 45.2% stated that they had partial difficulty. When asked how they overcome their difficulties;as a method of coping, 77.5% of the students stated that they use body language, 56.9% of them observed the emotional state of the patient, 39.8% of them used language translation programs by using technology. The mean score of the nursing students in the Non-verbal Confidence Scale was 76.60±13.29 and 69.55±11.75 in the midwifery students. Statistical analysis showed significant difference between the two groups(p<0.05).
Conclusıon: As a result of the study,it was observed that the students had problems in communication while providing care for refuge/asylum-seeking patients and made individual efforts to solve the problem.
