It was determined that Cytospora chrysosperma “Pers” Fr. developed best at PDA (Potato Dextrose Agar)
nourishment media and at 24±1°C and 80% relative humidity conditions. Development rate of the pathogen was
found to be 14 mm/day and under these conditions, pycnidia production occurred 3 days after incubation and
spores secreted from these pycnidia after 24 days after incubation. It was also determined that the disease agent
produces multioccular form pycnidia on infected poplar barks and yellowish-pink or dark red colored
deterministic spores were secreted from these pycnidia. The disease agent may produce various virulence
isolates depending on climatic conditions. It was determined that the isolate 25 (Ankara-Kırıkkale isolate) was
the most virulent isolate in the study area. It was once more determined that the disease agent to be a pathogen of
poplars and willows were found to be hosts of the disease.
