Abstract

Purpose: Mycotherapy can be defined as the use of medicinal fungi as an adjuvant treatment method within the scope of Traditional and Complementary Medicine (GETAT) practices. A comprehensive understanding of mycotherapy applications is of great importance for its integration with modern medicine. The aim of this study was to identify the medicinal mushroom species growing on Liquidambar orientalis Mill. used in mycotherapy applications and to investigate their use in folk medicine.

Materials and methods: The material of the study consisted of 6 medicinal mushroom species identified on Liquidambar orientalis growing in Muğla province. The identification of the identified species was carried out according to the existing literature using appropriate mycological techniques.

Results: The medicinal mushroom species identified were Ganoderma lucidum (Curtis) P. Karst., Trametes versicolor (L.) Lloyd, Auricularia auricula-judae (Bull.) Quél, Fomes fomentarius (L.) Fr., Schizophyllum commune Fr., Lentinus tigrinus (Bull.) Fr.

Conclusion: The medicinal mushrooms described are important species in Asian traditional medicine. Although these medicinal mushrooms have been used in Asian traditional medicine since ancient times, they are not well known in Türkiye. In this study, 6 medicinal mushroom species identified in Türkiye, which are frequently used in Asian Traditional Medicine, were identified; the common uses of these species in Asian Traditional Medicine and the knowledge of local people about the identified species were given.

Abstract

Quél, Fomes fomentarius (L.) Fr., Schizophyllum commune Fr., Lentinus tigrinus (Bull.) Fr.’dir.

Sonuç: Tanımlanan tıbbi mantarlar Asya geleneksel tıbbında önemli türlerdir. Bu tıbbi mantarlar, Asya geleneksel tıbbında eski çağlardan beri kullanılmasına rağmen, Türkiye’de iyi bilinmemektedir. İlgili çalışmada, ülkemizde tespit edilen ve özellikle Asya Geleneksel Tıbbında sıklıkla kullanılan 6 tıbbi mantar türü tanımlanmış; bu türlerin Asya Geleneksel Tıbbında yaygın kullanım alanları ve yöre halkının tespit edilen türlere ilişkin bilgi birikimi verilmiştir.
