Journal of Integrative and Anatolian Medicine is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal, scientifically supported by the University of Health Sciences, Türkiye, Traditional and Complementary Medicine Application and Research Centre (GETAT UAM).

The journal targets researchers, educators, and healthcare practitioners, including those interested in traditional, complementary, and integrative medicine, who seek impartial and critical knowledge in these fields. The journal aims to build a scientifically grounded bridge between the wisdom of traditional medicine and the evidence-based approach of modern medicine. In line with this aim, Journal of Integrative and Anatolian Medicine provides an innovative, interdisciplinary, and international academic platform.

  • It aims to be a leading journal in the field of integrative medicine and to promote communication and integration between traditional medicine systems, complementary medicine, traditional Anatolian, Chinese, and European medicine. The editorial board is committed to publishing high-quality articles on integrative medicine and forming an open forum where the international scientific community can exchange views, share research and clinical experiences, discuss integrative medicine education, and address issues in our disciplines. Thanks to its international scope, the journal allows for the widespread handling of research and progress from all regions of the world.
  • Topics covered include all aspects of integrative medicine, such as acupuncture and burning, traditional Anatolian medicine, Chinese medicine, Ayurvedic medicine, herbal medicine, homeopathy, nutrition, chiropractic, mind-body medicine, Tai Chi, Qigong, meditation, and any other form.
  • The journal focuses primarily on original research articles including basic science studies, systematic reviews, and randomized controlled studies; while pre-clinical and clinical studies, patient-centered efficacy studies, case series and reports, clinical trial protocols, qualitative, observational, and epidemiological studies, meta-analyses, and articles regarding methodology studies can also be published in the journal. In addition, review articles can be published. Moreover, there is the possibility to publish medical history or training, conference proceedings, editorials, commentaries, short reports, book reviews, letters to the editor, articles on healthcare and policy, health economics, and psychology.

Manuscript Submission and Review Process

Manuscript submissions are conducted through the journal’s DergiPark online manuscript management system. Authors are required to register an account and upload all files, supplementary materials, and the necessary ethics approval documents. All submissions undergo double-blind peer review, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are mutually concealed to ensure impartial and objective assessment.

Reviewers are expected to provide constructive, thorough, and timely evaluations, adhering to principles of scientific integrity, methodological rigor, and ethical standards. Editors make final decisions based on reviewer reports and academic assessment. Editors act in accordance with COPE and ICMJE guidelines in cases of plagiarism, fabrication, duplicate publication, or other ethical breaches. Additional reviewer input or advisory evaluation may be sought if deemed necessary. Authors are required to monitor and respond to all notifications and requests throughout the peer review and editorial process via the online system.




Language of Writing: The language of writing should be Turkish and/or English, and the text of the article should be written in an understandable, simple, and fluent style with technical expressions in the relevant field. Unnecessary and well-known information, and unnecessary sources should be avoided; previously published data, formulas, and results should be cited and quoted.

  • Nomenclature, abbreviations, signs and symbols should be used in accordance with international standards. Abbreviations specific to the article or used in the related field should be indicated in parentheses at the first mention. The International System of Units (SI) is required throughout the article.
  • The study must comply with the rules of grammar. In the article, attention should be paid to the use of punctuation marks, spelling of words, and abbreviations; a clear and simple way of expression should be followed, and unnecessary information that goes beyond the aim and scope should not be included. Valid scientific methods should be followed in the preparation of the article, and information such as the subject, aim, scope, reason for preparation, etc. of the study should be given sufficiently and in a certain order.


File Format: It is preferred that articles should be written using MS Office Word program (with .doc or .docx extension), not exceeding fifteen (15) pages for research articles and twenty (20) pages for review articles.

Journal of Integrative and Anatolian Medicine employs a double-blind peer review system. Through this system, the identities of both authors and reviewers remain mutually anonymous; to ensure impartiality and fairness throughout the evaluation process. Accordingly, at the time of submission, a title page containing all required information must be uploaded separately from the main manuscript. The main manuscript must not include the author’s name, institutional affiliation, or any other identifiable information. Strict compliance with this requirement is essential for the double-blind review process to be valid.

The title page must include the following information:

  • Article type
  • Article language
  • Article title: The title should be informative and concise (in both Turkish and English).
  • Running title: A short version of the title, limited to a maximum of 6 words
  • Author information (for each author): Full name, affiliation [i.e., department (if applicable), institution, city, and state/country], and ORCID iD
  • Corresponding author: Clear indication of the corresponding author and contact details are required.
  • Acknowledgements (if applicable)
  • Ethics committee approval (if applicable): Ethics committee approval for this study was obtained from the [Name of Ethics Committee] (Date: ... , Approval No: ...). Ethics committee approval must also be stated in the "Materials and methods" section of the article and uploaded to the DergiPark system.
  • Author contributions: All authors must clearly specify their individual roles in the preparation of the article.

International author(s) are not required to submit Turkish title, abstract, and keywords; the editorial board will provide support in this regard.

Title: Each article should have a title in both Turkish and English. They should be short, clear and adequately reflect the content of the article, written with first letter capitalized.


Abstract and Keywords: The abstract should reflect the purpose, scope and results of the study. It should be at least 100 and at most 250 words, and keywords of at least 3 and at most 6 words should be written one line below the abstract. It is recommended that Turkish keywords be provided according to "Türkiye Bilim Terimleri (TBT)" and English keywords according to "Medical Subject Headings (MeSH)".

  • The title, abstract and keywords should be written in both Turkish and English. International author(s) are not required to submit Turkish title, abstract, and keywords; the editorial board will provide support in this regard.
  • In the articles written in another foreign language, the title, abstract and keywords should be written in Turkish, English and the language of writing. Care should be taken to avoid language mistakes in foreign language abstracts.


Main Headings: They should be written with first letter capitalized; left justified and bold. Without numbering; make your research article structured as Introduction, Materials and methods, Results and discussion, Conclusion and References. In review articles, the headings other than Introduction, Conclusion and References sections are left to the discretion of the author(s).


Figures, tables, maps and photographs should not extend beyond the writing area, and each should be placed on a separate page if necessary. Figures and tables should be numbered and titled in Turkish/English according to their content. Numbers and titles should be written only the first letters of the words capitalized, under the figures (centered) and above the tables (centered).


References: The APA 7th edition citation style should be used for in-text citations and references list. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all references are complete and accurate. Some examples are provided below. Click here for more information about APA style citation.

Plagiarism Check

  • Journal of Integrative and Anatolian Medicine, in accordance with its publication standards, requires plagiarism check to ensure the integrity of all work. In this context, the editorial board will review both the Turkish and English versions of each manuscript for plagiarism.
  • Plagiarism check is performed using intihal.net, Turnitin, or iThenticate software. Once plagiarism is detected, the matches obtained in each study are carefully examined and the matches with correct references and cross-references are sorted. Any remaining matching errors are then identified and presented to the editorial board. The board then decides on a final course of action in the light of plagiarism report. The manuscript may be returned to the author(s) or the author(s) may be asked to correct the errors mentioned in the report.
  • The journal accepts manuscripts with a maximum similarity index of 20%. Submissions exceeding this threshold are returned to the authors for revision.
