Referee Evaluation Procedure

The aim of referee evaluation process is to ensure that original and qualified scientific papers published. Authors, who sent their manuscripts to the Journal, are required to fill out the Copyright Transfer Form, and to send it to the Journal Editorial Staff. Otherwise, manuscripts cannot be published. All articles published in the Balıkesir University Economics and Administrative Sciences Journal are peer reviewed and all manuscripts submitted follows the procedure outlined below.

Initial Manuscript Evaluation

All manuscripts submitted for publication in the Journal are firstly evaluated by the Editor and Editorial Board. Manuscripts which fall outside the aims and scope of the journal or are not enough for requirements of a scientific study may be rejected or wanted some revisions before starting the review process. Manuscripts are never accepted by the Editor without a referee report, at this early stage.

Policy of Peer Review

Balıkesir University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Journal (BAUN İİBFD) employs double blind reviewing, where both the referee and author remain anonymous throughout the process.

Referee Evaluation

After initial evaluation, the manuscripts are sent to at least two referees which are determined by Editor and/or Editorial Board. If necessary, the number of referees can be increased by Editor or Editorial Board. The referees are chosen from referee pool according to their expertise.

Referees are asked to evaluate the manuscript’s originality, methodology, contribution to the literature, presentation of results, support for the conclusions, and appropriate referencing of previous relevant studies. Referees might accept the manuscript, reject the manuscript or might require a revision for style and/or content. For publication of articles, two positive reports are required. In case one referee report is negative while the other is positive, the article is forwarded to a third referee for additional evaluation.

When a revision is required by the referee or referees, the author(s) are to consider the criticism and suggestions offered by the referees, and they should be sent back the revised version of manuscript in no later than one month. If the revised manuscript is not sent in one month, the manuscript is removed from from referee evaluation process. Referees may request more than one revision of a manuscript. Manuscripts which are not accepted for publication are not re-sent to their authors.

Final Evaluation

After being deemed publishable, manuscripts are put on the publication schedule of the journal; and the authors are notified of the final decision.

Book Reviews and Evaluations, Case Studies, Reports, Stories About Scientific Activities etc.

Book reviews and evaluations, publication announcements and abstracts, post-scripts, evaluations, and remarks on an article written previously, relevant answers and replies to these answers may also take part in the Journal. In addition, along with case studies and reports, stories about scientific activities such as conferences and congresses may also be published. Manuscripts of this sort are published in the Journal by the consent of the Editorial Board.
