ÇOCUK, ÖLÜM VE KAYIP

Abstract

Çocuğun kaçınılmaz bir gerçek olan ölümü, kavram olarak algılayışı yaşına, bulunduğu gelişim düzeyine ve kişilik özelliklerine göre farklılaşmaktadır. Ölümle ilgili yapılacak açıklamaların, çocuğun bu bilgiye ihtiyaç duyduğu zamanda, açık, anlaşılır ve basit bir şekilde yapılması önemlidir. Ölümü, uyku, hastalık, uzağa gitmek, yaşlılık gibi kavramlarla eşleştirerek açıklamaktan kaçınılmalıdır. Ölümü izleyen kayıp sürecinde yetişkinin çocuğa yaklaşımı önemlidir. Yetişkin çocuğa karşı duyarlı, soğukkanlı, dinlemeye açık, yargılamayan, çocuğun ihtiyaçlarını dikkate alan ve duygusunu ifade etmesine izin veren bir yaklaşım sergilemelidir. Kayıp sonrası yaşananlar, çocuğun yaşı, kişiliği, deneyimleri, ölen kişiyle ilişkisi, çevrenin etkisi, ailenin tutumu, ölüm nedeni ve oluş şekline göre değişmektedir. Çocuğa kayıptan önceki yaşantısının aynı şekilde devam edeceği ve güvende olacağı duygusu hissettirildiğinde çocuk kayıp sonrası yas süreciyle sağlıklı biçimde başedebilecektir

CHILD, DEATH AND LOSS

Abstract

Child's perception of death as a concept depends on his/her age, developmental stage and personality. Explanations about death must be done in a clear and simple way to the child, when he/she requires the information. Death should not be explained in a way to be matched with the concepts of sleep, illness to be away or being old. Adult's attitude is important to child through the grieving process; during this period being sensitive, calm and ready to listen, and taking child's needs into consideration and giving opportunity to express his/her feelings is important. Grieving process is influenced by child's age, personality, experiences, and relationship with the dead person, effect of the environment, family attitude, and type of loss. When the child is given the feeling and the confidence that his/her life will continue as it was, before the loss, he/she will be able to cope with the grieving process in a healthy way.
