Tourism And Recreational Potential of Campings in Turkey in Accommodation

Year 2023, Volume: 4 Issue: 2, 1 - 12, 31.12.2023

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the current profiles of the camps in accommodation, which are alternative tourism and outdoor recreation resources certified by the municipalities and the Ministry of Tourism, and to offer suggestions about what can be done for the campings. At the same time, it is possible to make comparisons between the number of camping sites and their usage rates in Turkey and EU countries. In accordance with the descriptive research model, the statistical data in the database of the Ministry of Tourism were handled and the situation of the camps in tourism was revealed. The alternative tourism potential of Camping and Caravanning in Turkey is quite large in terms of economic potential. As of the end of 2021, there are 77 municipality-certified and 12 ministry-certified facilities. The number of incoming people to camping shows that increasing by consistently. The majority of the incoming to camping in Turkey are seen in camping in inland areas rather than sea-sun-sand tourism. When the number of camping in Turkey are compared to EU countries, although Turkey has the highest population density, the number of camping sites is quite small compared to EU countries.

Türkiye’deki Kampinglerin Konaklama Açısından Turizm ve Rekreasyonel Potansiyeli

Year 2023, Volume: 4 Issue: 2, 1 - 12, 31.12.2023
