INVESTIGATION OF THE ORGANIZATIONAL CINISM PERCEPTIONS OF HOTEL OPERATING STUDIES ACCORDING TO SOME DEMOGRAPHIC VARIABLES

Abstract

Organizational problems and lived crises and scandals, emerged as a result of several faulty and unsuccessful practices of the organizational managements, seriously brought on a set of negative thought, attitude and behaviors of the employees against their organizations, such as distrust, tedium, monotony, uneasiness, suspicion and alienation. The cynicism phenomenon is the most important among those widely seen negative thought and attitudes. Organizational cynicism, which is comprised of cognitive dimension including faith development related to cynicism; affective dimension which includes experiencing different negative emotions due to the presence of cynicism; and behavioral dimension including the belief in cynicism and emergence of cynicismrelated negative emotions as behavior, is a complicated phenomenon that pits employees against organization. The purpose of this study is; to determine levels of organizational cynicism of the hotel employees in the city of Bitlis. Also to determine whether the relationship between company employees’ demographic features and organizational cynicism. The average for the entire scale of Organizational cynicismof the hotel business employees in Bitlis city was determined as x=3.81. A meaningful differences was found between the employees organizational cynicism level and with their education, term of employment, marital status and income. It is thought that organizational cynicism perception will be reduced with the enhancement of work environments and working conditions that hotel business employees are in and with the establishment of a supportive organizational culture pattern within which managers feel responsibility to develop their employees, which puts human values into focal point, and which is relation oriented.
