Yönetim Uygulamalarının Uluslararası Transferinde Retorik Dizilerinin Değişmesi

Abstract

In this study, it is argued that the sequence of rhetorical strategies followed to legitimate management practices depends on the origin of management practices (foreign and indigenous) and the position of the country where practices are legitimated (center and periphery). Particularly, it is proposed that indigenous practices are legitimated through the sequence of pathos, logos, and ethos rhetorics whereas foreign practices through the sequence of ethos, pathos, and logos rhetorics. It is also proposed that logos rhetoric is dominant at the center while ethos rhetoric dominant at the periphery. These propositions are tested by examining the legitimating discourses of four foreign and indigenous management practices in USA and Turkey, which are selected as central and peripheral countries. The results partially support the propositions. They also indicate that both the origin of practices and the position of countries influence the order of rhetorical strategies although the later is more salient.

YÖNETİM UYGULAMALARININ ULUSLARARASI TRANSFERİNDE RETORİK DİZİLERİNİN DEĞİŞMESİ

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, yönetim uygulamalarının meşrulaştırılmasında izlenen retorik dizilerinin, uygulamaların kökenine (yerli-yabancı) ve ülkenin konumuna (merkez-çevre) bağlı olarak değiştiği ileri sürülmektedir. Bu doğrultuda, yerli uygulamaların duygusal, ussal ve ahlaki dizisiyle meşrulaştırılırken, yabancı uygulamaların ahlaki, duygusal ve ussal dizisiyle meşrulaştırıldığı ileri sürülmektedir. Ayrıca, merkez ülkelerde ussal retoriğin, çevre ülkelerde ise ahlaki retoriğin egemen olduğu iddia edilmektedir. Çalışmada bu öneriler, merkez ve çevre ülke olarak seçilen ABD ve Türkiye'deki yerli ve transfer edilmiş dört farklı yönetim uygulamasının söylemleri incelenerek sınanmıştır. Sonuçlar, önerilerin kısmen desteklendiğini göstermektedir. Ayrıca, merkez-çevre boyutu daha etkili olmakla birlikte, her iki boyutun da retoriksel dizileri anlamlı bir biçimde etkiliği saptanmıştır.
