Abstract
The purpose of the present study is to reveal the Turkish managers' conception of knowledge management. At the same time, the study will look at the contributions of the knowledge management approach adopted by the managers to the operations of the organization. To the knowledge management applications, there are generally two approaches to be adopted which are technology-oriented and social relations-oriented approaches. In order to solicit which approach is adopted by the Turkish managers, a questionnaire was administered to the managers of the organizations operating in various cities of Turkey. The results of the questionnaire revealed that the Turkish managers have adopted technology-oriented approach to knowledge management rather than social relations-oriented approach. The managers think that knowledge management-related activities make important contributions to many operations of the organization. The present study concluded with the discussions of the contribution of the study to the literature and practice and some suggestions were made for the future research.
