The Ribat movement in the Al-Aqsa Mosque is one of the most popular of Palestinians’ defense of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. It has played - and still plays - in various forms, a remarkable role in obstructing Judaisation projects that aim to divide the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque in time and space. The movement also maintains awareness of the issue of Bayt al-Maqdis and the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the Arab and Islamic agenda. This paper seeks to shed light on the Ribat experience and to document it by studying the conditions of its commencement, its course, and its role as a peaceful resistance action in defending the Al-Aqsa Mosque. It will confirm its Islamic exclusivity and the methods of the Israeli occupation in fighting it as an example of the role of popular forces in the battle to defend Al-Aqsa Mosque.
