Interpreting Post-al-Aqsa Flood from the Perspective of Settler Colonialism: Gaza and the West Bank

Abstract

This article posits that an understanding of the current conditions in Palestine necessitates comprehending the colonial structure to which it is subjected. The objective is to analyse settler colonialism in general, and its specific manifestation in Palestine. The article is divided into two main sections: "Classical Colonialism - Settler Colonialism" and "Interpreting October 7 from the Perspective of Settler Colonialism." The first section interprets settler colonialism by contrasting it with classical colonialism, thereby elucidating its unique characteristics and structure. The second section, despite noting the differing strategies employed by Israel in Gaza and the West Bank, reveals the underlying similarity in the structure and logic of colonialism in both regions. The discourse of settler colonialism is examined and interpreted within the specific context. To underscore the continuity of Israel's post-October 7 practices with its historical policy, the article employs theoretical frameworks such as necropolitics, spacio-cide, and the settler colonialism paradigm. By emphasising this historical continuity, the study demonstrates that Israel's actions post- October 7 are part of an ongoing settler colonialism that has persisted since 1948. Ultimately, the article offers an objective framework for understanding how the events of October 7 have impacted Israel's settler colonialism.

Yerleşimci Sömürgecilik Perspektifinden Aksa Tufanı Sonrasını Yorumlamak: Gazze ve Batı Şeria

Abstract

Filistin'in mevcut koşullarını anlamanın maruz kaldığı sömürgenin yapısını anlamaktan geçtiğini öne süren makale, genel olarak yerleşimci sömürgeciliği, özel olarak bu sömürgeciliğin Filistin'deki işleyişini analiz etmeyi hedeflemektedir. "Klasik Sömürgecilik - Yerleşimci Sömürgecilik" ve "7 Ekim'i Yerleşimci Sömürgecilik Perspektifinden Yorumlamak" olmak üzere iki ana başlıktan oluşan makalenin birinci bölümünde, yerleşimci sömürgecilik klasik sömürgecilik ile karşılaştırılarak yorumlanmış; böylece özgüllüğü ve yapısı ortaya konmuştur. İkinci bölümde ise İsrail’in Gazze ve Batı Şeria bölgelerine uyguladığı stratejilerinin farklı oluşuna karşın sömürgeciliğinin yapı ve mantığının benzerliği ortaya konmuş, yerleşimci sömürgecilik söylemi somut bağlam ekseninde karşılaştırılarak yorumlanmıştır. Makalede İsrail’in 7 Ekim sonrası uygulamalarının geçmişteki politikalarıyla benzerliğini vurgulamak üzere yerleşimci sömürgecilik paradigmasının yanı sıra nekropolitika (necropolitics), mekân-kırım (spacio-cide) gibi birtakım teorik çerçevelerden yararlanılmış, böylece tarihsel sürekliliği vurgulanarak 7 Ekim sonrası politikaların 48’ten beridir süregelen yerleşimci sömürgeciliğinin devamı olduğu geçmiş ile bugünün kıyasında görünür kılınmıştır. Nihai olarak, 7 Ekim olaylarının İsrail’in yerleşimci sömürgeciliğini nasıl etkilediğine ilişkin nesnel bir çerçeve sunulmuştur.

تفسير ما بعد طوفان الأقصى من منظور الاستعمار الاستيطاني: غزة والضفة الغربية

Abstract

تفترض هذه المقالة أن فهم الأوضاع الراهنة في فلسطين يستلزم فهم البنية الاستعمارية التي تخضع لها. والهدف من ذلك هو تحليل الاستعمار الاستيطاني بشكل عام، وتجلياته المحددة في فلسطين. ينقسم المقال إلى قسمين رئيسيين: "الاستعمار الكلاسيكي - الاستعمار الاستيطاني" و"تفسير أحداث طوفان الأقصى في الـ 7 أكتوبر من منظور الاستعمار الاستيطاني". يفسر القسم الأول الاستعمار الاستيطاني من خلال المقارنة بينه وبين الاستعمار الكلاسيكي، وبالتالي يتم توضيح خصائصه وبنيته الفريدة. أما القسم الثاني، فعلى الرغم من اختلاف الاستراتيجيات التي تطبقها "إسرائيل" في قطاع غزة والضفة الغربية، إلا أنه يتم الكشف عن التشابه الكامن في بنية الاستعمار ومنطقه في كلا المنطقتين. ويتم مقارنة خطاب الاستعمار الاستيطاني وتفسيره ضمن السياق المحدد. وللتأكيد على تشابه ممارسات الاحتلال الصهيوني في ما بعد 7 أكتوبر مع سياستها السابقة، توظف المقالة أطرًا نظرية مثل سياسات ”سلطة الحياة والموت“ و ”التطهير المكاني“ بالإضافة إلى نموذج الاستعمار الاستيطاني. وبالتأكيد على هذه الاستمرارية التاريخية من خلال مقارنة الحاضر بالماضي، تُظهر الدراسة أن ممارسات إسرائيل بعد 7 أكتوبر ما هو إلا جزء من استعمارها الاستيطاني المستمر منذ عام 1948. في نهاية المطاف، يقدم المقال إطارًا مَوضوعيًا لفهم كيفية تأثير أحداث 7 أكتوبر على الاستعمار الاستيطاني الإسرائيلي.
