Clinical Leadership Characteristics of Physicians and Nurses Who Work In Private Hospitals: Ankara Province Case

Abstract

This study aims to determine the clinical leadership characteristics of physicians and nurses who working in private hospitals. For this purpose, opinions of physicians and nurses who working in private hospitals in Çankaya district of Ankara about clinical leadership characteristics were obtained by face to face questionnaire method. The obtained data were analyzed in a statistical package program. Demographic characteristics of participants' views on clinical leadership characteristics independent samples t-test and one way variance analysis methods were used. As a result of the analyzes, it was determined that the opinions of physicians and nurses about clinical leadership characteristics were high. The opinions of physicians were found to be higher than nurses. The majority of physicians and nurses stated that they did not receive formal training in leadership and clinical leadership. However, it was found that the participants showed clinical leadership characteristics with a high average. Also, significant differences were found between the participants' clinical leadership characteristics and their ages,education levels,income levels, working time in the current institution and profession, and training on leadership and clinical leadership. There was no significant difference between the participants' clinical leadership characteristics and their gender and marital status.

Özel Hastanelerde Çalışan Hekim ve Hemşirelerin Klinik Liderlik Özellikleri: Ankara İli Örneği

Abstract

Bu çalışma ile özel hastanelerde çalışan hekim ve hemşirelerin klinik liderlik özelliklerinin tespit edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla Ankara ili Çankaya ilçesinde bulunan özel hastanelerde çalışan hekim ve hemşirelerin klinik liderlik özelliklerine ilişkin görüşleri yüz yüze anket yöntemi ile elde edilmiştir. Toplanan veriler bir istatistik paket programında analiz edilmiştir. Katılımcıların klinik liderlik özelliklerine ilişkin görüşlerinin demografik özelliklerine göre farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığını tespit etmek amacıyla bağımsız örneklem t-testi ve tek yönlü varyans (ANOVA) analizi yöntemlerine başvurulmuştur. Yapılan analizler sonucunda hekim ve hemşirelerin klinik liderlik özelliklerine ilişkin görüşlerinin yüksek olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Hekimlerin klinik liderliğe yönelik görüşlerinin hemşirelere göre daha yüksek olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Hekim ve hemşirelerin büyük bir çoğunluğu, liderlik ve klinik liderlik üzerine formel bir eğitim almadıklarını belirtmişlerdir. Ancak katılımcılar yüksek bir ortalama ile klinik liderlik özellikleri taşıdıklarını belirtmişlerdir. Ayrıca katılımcıların klinik liderlik özellikleri ile yaşları, öğrenim düzeyleri, gelir düzeyleri, kurumda ve meslekte çalışma süreleri ve liderlik ve klinik liderlik üzerine eğitim almaları arasında anlamlı farklılıklar tespit edilirken; katılımcıların klinik liderlik özellikleri ile cinsiyetleri ve medeni durumları arasında anlamlı bir farklılık tespit edilememiştir.
