Abstract
Toplumsal ve kültürel bir üretim olarak sanat, sosyolojik bilgi için bir kaynak niteliği taşır. Çünkü sanat, üretildiği toplumun yapısıyla direkt bir ilişki içindedir. Bütün toplumsal kurumların birbirlerinden etkilenmesi gibi, sanat da diğer tüm toplumsal kurumlardan etkilenerek var olur. Bu etkileşimin niteliğini hem sanat eserinin kendisinden, hem kültürel pazarın kendisinden hareketle anlamaya çalışmak sosyolojik bilgi için bir imkândır. Sosyolojinin bu imkânı kullanma zorunluluğu, sosyolojik bir alt disiplinin, yani sanat sosyolojisinin oluşmasına neden olur.

Abstract
As a product of society and culture, art is a potential resource of sociological information. The reason for this is that art has a direct relationship with the structure of the society it is produced in. Like all social structures are influenced by one another, the formation of art is influenced by all other social organizations. Endeavoring to understand both the quality of this influence from the work of art itself and from the cultural market is an opportunity to gain sociological information. The obligation of sociology to utilize this opportunity causes the formation of a sociological sub-discipline, in other words the formation of the sociology of art.
