History And Geography Teachers’ Perceptıons of the Objectives of Social Science Teaching (Example of East Black Sea Region)
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to examine the perception of history and geography teachers about the objectives of social
sciences teaching and the general objectives of history and geography teaching. The study carried out in the East Black Sea region of Turkey. In order to seek the perceptions of teachers, structured interview was used and 168 history and geography teachers participated the study. In the light of the research, it appears that history and geography teachers have not been able to keep up with recent and contemporary changes, regarding the educational objectives of social sciences teaching, taking place in the world.
Tarih ve Coğrafya Öğretmenlerinin Sosyal Bilimler Öğretiminin Amaçlarına Yönelik Görüşleri (Doğu Karadeniz Bölgesi Örneği)
Abstract
Bu çalışmanın amacı, Ordu, Giresun, Trabzon, Rize ve Artvin il merkezlerindeki tarih ve coğrafya öğretmenlerinin sosyal bilimler ve kendi alanlarının öğretiminin genel amaçlarına yönelik görüşlerini ortaya koymaktır. Araştırmada, nitel bir yaklaşım takip edilmiş olup, veri toplama aracı olarak yapılandırılmış mülakat kullanılmıştır. Doğu Karadeniz Bölgesi’nde bulunan beş il merkezinde yapılan bu çalışmayla, 168 tarih ve coğrafya öğretmenine ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen verilerin ışığı altında, çalışmaya dahil olan öğretmenlerin büyük bir bölümünün sosyal bilimler öğretiminin amaçları konusunda yeterli bilgiye sahip olmadıkları anlaşılmaktadır. Buna ilaveten, gerek tarih öğretmenlerinin, gerekse coğrafya öğretmenlerinin kendi alanlarının öğretiminin genel amaçları konusunda, dünyada meydan gelen değişimleri yakalayamadıkları da görülmüştür.
