Natural dyeing works on some lichens species distributed in Ayvacık Çanakkale and İvrindi Balıkesir/Turkey

Abstract

Lichens are symbiotic organisms which have been used in food, dye, medicine, cosmetics, decoration, leather industry, etc. in all over the world. Although there are researchs on natural dyeing feature of lichens in the world, ethnobotanical use were not reported in our country. In this study, using mordant or without mordant natural dyeing techniques are investigated on some lichens species Cladonia convoluta, Xanthoria parietina, Ramalina fastigiata, Pleurosticta acetabulum, Xanthoparmelia pulla, Xanthoparmelia somloensis, Ramalina farinacea, Pseudevernia furfuracea, Hypogymnia physodes collected from Ayvacık Çanakkale and İvrindi Balıkesir regions. Alum KAl SO4 2.12H2O is used as mordant. During dyeing procedures, 2.5 number-metric wool fibre is used. As a result of dying, it is observed that these lichen spacies give colour in an interval from dirty yellow to red-brown to wool yarns

Ayvacık Çanakkale ve İvrindi Balıkesir ’de yayılış gösteren bazı liken türleri üzerinde doğal boyama çalışmaları

Abstract

Likenler; dünya genelinde gıda, boya, ilaç, kozmetik, dekorasyon, deri sanayii vb. alanlarda sıklıkla kullanılan simbiyotik canlılardır. Dünyada likenler üzerine yapılmış doğal boya çalışmaları bulunmasına rağmen ülkemizde etnobotanik kullanımına rastlanılmamıştır. Bu çalışmada Ayvacık Çanakkale ve İvrindi Balıkesir yöresinden toplanan bazı liken türleri Cladonia convoluta, Xanthoria parietina, Ramalina fastigiata, Pleurosticta acetabulum, Pseudevernia furfuracea, Xanthoparmelia pulla, Xanthoparmelia somloensis, Ramalina farinacea, Pseudevernia furfuracea, Hypogymnia physodes üzerinde mordansız ve mordanlı doğal boyama yöntemleri araştırılmıştır. Mordanlı çalışmalarda alüminyum şapı KAl SO4 2.12H2O kullanılmıştır. Boyama işlemleri süresince 2,5 numarametrik yün iplik kullanılmıştır. Boyama sonucunda liken türlerinin yün iplerine kirli sarıdan kızıl-kahverengi tonlarına doğru renk verdiği gözlenmiştir
