Threat categories of three species endemic to Uludağ Bursa/Turkey

Abstract

The population status and geographical distribution of three species endemic to Uludağ Mountain Bursa, Turkey , Rumex olympicus Boiss., Tripleurospermum pichleri Boiss. Bornm. and Hieracium leptodermum Zahn P. D. Sell & C. West were examined between 2001 and 2007 during our field studies on Uludag Mountain. According to The Red Data Book of Turkish Plants, threat categories of these narrow endemic species are DD Data Deficient because their floristic records and the data on their population status are not enough. Our findings have showed that their populations endangered due to excessive construction for winter tourism, recreactional activities and overgrazing. Therefore, according to the IUCN 2010 Version 8.1 Red List Criteria, proposed threat categories are as follows; EN Endangered for R. olympicus, CR Critically Endangered for T. pichleri and EN Endangered for H. leptodermum

Uludağ Bursa ’a özgü üç türün tehlike kategorileri

Abstract

2001 ve 2007 yılları arasında Uludağ’daki arazi çalışmalarımız sırasında Uludağ Bursa ’a özgü 3 türün, Rumex olympicus Boiss., Tripleurospermum pichleri Boiss. Bornm. ve Hieracium leptodermum Zahn P. D. Sell & C. West’un populasyon durumları ve coğrafik yayılışları incelenmiştir. Türkiye Bitkileri Kırmızı Kitabı’na göre bu endemik üç türün tehlike kategorisi, floristik kayıtları ve populasyon durumları üzerine bilgiler yeterli olmadığından DD Yetersiz Veri ’dir. Bulgularımız bu türlerin populasyonlarının kış turizmi için aşırı yapılaşma, rekreasyonal aktiviteler ve aşırı otlatma nedeniyle tehlikede olduğunu göstermiştir. Bu nedenle, IUCN 2010 Versiyon 8.1 Kırmızı Liste Ölçütlerine göre R. olympicus için EN Tehlikede , T. pichleri için CR Çok Tehlikede ve H. leptodermum için EN Tehlikede kategorisi önerilmiştir
